Welcome to the Jackson Zoo
The Jack Frost Shop has always used
its gift department as a place to have "some fun." A couple of
years ago when a customer (obviously not from around here) asked where
she could go and see all of our native wildlife in one place, a
long-time employee of the shop responded, "oh, you mean the Jackson
Zoo!", and proceeded to give her a seat out our back door, down by the
Wildcat River, and said "just wait." Of course, it was meant to
be a joke, but as luck would have it, that woman saw both a moose
wander thru the parking lot and a mama black bear with her two cubs
down by the fire pond. Oh, it gets better! The next day
she stopped in, very concerned that "the dead skunk in the middle of
the road" that she had seen that morning was missing from the zoo.
Thus the birth of the Jackson Zoo. Today we carry a huge
selection of stuffed animals and other gifty things with a New England
wildlife flavor, so that even if you don't see that red fix with her
kits or a bald eagle you can still take one home.
